The apu2 [1] is a little computer with x86 based architecture. It has three or four network ports, depending on the model. This makes it a great choice for routers and dedicated servers. What makes it specially interesting for a home ceph cluster is that it has 4GB ECC RAM, four cores and plenty network interfaces.

  • With 3 or 4 interfaces it allows to experiment with dedicated internal networks for the OSD nodes.
  • The 4 GB of RAM allow to use Harddisks with 3 - 4 TB space.
  • It offers a real SATA Port, so you can connect the drives directly to it.
